Trip to the cinema…

INSERT PHOTO OF FILM TICKET HERE

This week I attended a screening of the documentary 5 Broken Cameras at the Hackney Picturehouse. It was a special screening as part of their Discover Tuesdays series. As part of the screening, the producer of the film was in attendance and was available to answer questions following the screening.

The film is about an amateur filmmaker in Palestine who films the non-violent protests of his friends and neighbours who oppose the encroaching Israeli settlement that threatens their village. Over the course of several years, we see the struggles of his friends and family as they battle against the Israeli army. The title refers to the five cameras that he loses through protests, gunfire and car crashes along the way!

I thought the theme of ‘broken cameras’ to tie the film together and provide punctuation and structure to the narrative was very effective etc etc…

Any comments on filmmaking techniques…
